Move a building, place a vehicle, redraw a path then press F7 and you are standing in the game, on that map, looking at exactly what you just changed. See it, judge it, press F7 again and you are back in the editor at the same spot, ready to fix it.
The point is not that switching is possible. The point is that checking a change stops costing anything. Without this, seeing whether a spawn point sits right means saving, quitting, launching the game, picking your mod, starting freeplay, waiting for the map, and finding the place again every single time. So you don't check. You place ten things, test once, and untangle whatever went wrong. With one keypress between editing and seeing, you check as often as you like, which changes how you build rather than just how fast.
Steam users set dir=Mods\Your Mod in the ini, because the Steam launcher does not pass the mod name.
